Associate a care provider team with an admitted (IPD) patient in AndroHealth HIMS — add primary and secondary providers, manage members, and control EMR access by role.
AndroHealth lets you assign a dedicated care team to every admitted (inpatient) patient. The care team defines who is responsible for the patient during their stay — a single primary care provider plus any number of secondary providers — and governs who can access the patient's EMR, all with a complete audit trail.
A care team is the group of practitioners associated with an admitted patient. Each team has exactly one active primary care provider; everyone else is a secondary provider. Members gain access to the patient's medical record according to their role — for example, nursing staff can view medical history, orders, and the treatment plan.
If a secondary care provider was chosen on the admission form, it is automatically added as the first care-team member. All providers other than the primary are treated as secondary.
Open the care-team popup in view mode, then choose Modify. Existing members appear with the option to inactivate them, and you can add new members. To change the primary provider, reset the primary field and select a new primary care provider, then save.
Inactivated members move to the end of the list with a To date showing when they left the team. Records they created (EMR, orders, prescriptions) are preserved.
Open Patient Profile → Admission and use the care-team button to see the full team in a popup. For discharged records, every member shows a To date equal to the discharge date.
When a user is added with the Care Provider option, Practitioner Specialty becomes mandatory. For any care-team member who is a care provider, the system automatically displays their practitioner specialty.
From IPD → Admission → Admitted, open Associate Care Team and add members by position.
No — exactly one active primary care provider is required.
Their orders, EMR entries, and documentation are preserved, with a full audit trail.
